Dominic Ridley-Moy’s Story

Hi, I’m passionate about helping people make better choices.

I’ve seen how applying behaviour change theory, often at low cost, can make a huge difference to your communications and the services you provide, leading to better outcomes for people, as well as saving money.

I worked in-house for more than 17 years, with experience across the public sector as a Head of Communications, before setting up the Behaviour Change Network.

I am also heavily involved in the wider PR industry as a previous co-chair of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Local Public Services Group as well as serving a two-year stint on CIPR’s council.

I am a fellow of CIPR and a chartered PR practitioner.

My story

I started my career in 1999 working in external and internal communications roles, before focusing on delivering campaigns and how to bring behaviour change principles to tackle many of the challenges faced by organisations today.

As a Deputy Head of Communications, at a London local authority, I was able to experiment with behavioural insights and ‘nudge’ theory when it was in its infancy, tackling everything from shifting residents online, to encouraging people to pay their council tax and tackling littering issues.

This gives me a unique perspective. Having worked in-house, for many years, I understand how to apply behaviour change theory in an organisation, where to get quick wins and how to work with colleagues at all levels to get buy-in for your work.

I’ve done all the hard work, so know what works and what doesn’t!
