Emergency Planning Workshop

This bespoke Emergency Planning Workshop will help communications teams and emergency planners plan, respond to, and communicate more effectively during crises by applying behavioural science and neuroscience.

The session, tailored to your organisation’s needs, will focus on how humans behave in crisis situations such as floods, extreme weather, and major incidents.

  • We’ll delve into how residents react when they are stressed, scared, or panicked.
  • We’ll unpick how this affects what they do: how do residents take in information, who do they trust, what sources of information do they turn to (or not)?
  • And we will examine how we can predict the seemingly counterintuitive decisions people make under pressure.

You’ll also learn how to identify behavioural barriers using a behavioural framework, COM-B (Capability, Opportunity and Motivation – Behaviour), and find out how to better join up emergency planning with effective communications. And if you are dealing with any crises this winter, we can cover lessons learnt.

The workshop can be delivered face-to-face or online.
